Meatless Monday

For this eco-friendly Friday, we are going to be planning ahead for that dreaded Monday lurking around the corner. I am talking about going meat-free once a week. Even if you are an avid meat eater, going without meat every Monday can make a big difference and it’s a good way to explore new dining options.

This infographic from makes a startling point, why just skip the occasional shower when you could save enough water for 60 showers or more by skipping the occasional hamburger?

That’s not even half of it! Every day that you adopt a vegan lifestyle you can save up to 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, one animal’s life, and even 30 square feet of wooded land by reducing the need for future deforestation. You can also wipe 20 pounds of CO2 off your carbon footprint. That’s a lot of savings!

Meatless Monday is easy on your wallet too.

Try a vegan chili, pasta dish, or roasted vegetables with potatoes. There are plenty of recipes floating around our cooking tab that you could easily make for your family. You’ll be surprised to find how inexpensive it is to feed everyone when you leave meat off the plate.

Fill your plate up!

Since vegetables are typically low in calories and high in nutrients, you can easily load up your plate with heaps and heaps of them without any guilt.

Try Lemon Pepper Pasta & Sprouts!

Or maybe a big bowl of Better Butternut Squash Soup?
